I am thrilled to represent Team Hoyt at the 2012 Boston Marathon, 16 April - this will be the 30th Boston for the father and son team of Dick and Rick Hoyt and my first Boston!
The amazing love between this father and son has inspired me to support the Hoyt Foundation and I hope it will inspire you to help me!
The Mission of the Hoyt Foundation is to build the individual character, self-confidence and self-esteem of America's disabled young people through inclusion in all facets of daily life including in family and community activities, especially in sports, at home, in schools, and in the workplace.
The Hoyt Foundation is completely volunteer run therefore 100% of your donation goes to such causes as:
- Boston Children's Hospital Augmentative Communications Program - internationally acclaimed for its work with children and adults who are non-speaking or whose speech is severley impaired. Rick was able to attend and graduate from Boston University as a result of the technology produced by this program.
- Easter Seals of Massachusetts Summer Camp Programs for children
- Donation of running chairs to local groups
- Support to local therapeutic horseback riding organizations
- ... and in other ways that help improve the quality of life for those living with disabilities.
In addition to the financial support of the Foundation to provide services for those living with disabilities, Team Hoyt's Yes You CAN message has inspired many around the globe to persevere, never give up, and push others in chairs - read a few amazing stories on the Official Team Hoyt Facebook page to see how Dick and Rick continue to touch lives worldwide.
